Alexandria man accused in Charles Park apartment shooting

Jeffrey Allen Williams, 33, of 2216 Hill St., Alexandria, is in the Rapides Parish Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with a shooting that occurred Wednesday in Charles Park, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Williams is accused of shooting Zachary Ackel, 18, of Alexandria, in front of an apartment complex in the 4400 block of Charleston Circle shortly before 2 p.m.

On Wednesday, the complainant told police she was sitting on her pack porch when she heard two shots fired in the area. She also said she saw a man – who police later identified as Williams – running toward the swimming pool behind the apartment.

Ackel, who was at the apartment complex, told police he had been robbed and shot twice. He was taken to Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, treated and released.
