Joseph Lee, 31, 3217 Wise St., and Jerry Allen Lowe, 28, 3715 Orangefield Dr., were arrested Saturday, May 22, in connection with shots being fired in the 3100 block of Laurel St., according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Officers responded to a disturbance Saturday night and received information that Lee had been outside firing a weapon. He allegedly got into the passenger’s side of a van that was headed towards Texas Avenue. Lowe was the van’s driver.

Officers stopped the van at Texas and Madonna near Elliott Street. The complainant told officers Lee was angry about someone stealing an air conditioner from him and was trying to find that person. He allegedly fired one shot in the air.

While being transported to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lee, while handcuffed, tried to call his mother. However, when asked where his mother lived, Lee allegedly told officers he didn’t know her Prospect Street address or her telephone number. The complainant advised authorities Lee’s mother lived on Laurel Street.

Both men were booked into the Rapides Parish Jail on charges of illegal use of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lowe was also arrested on an Alexandria Police Department warrant for failure to pay a $480 fine and a RPSO warrant for contempt of court.
