Landlords and tenants to meet to discuss differences, similiarities

Alexandria residents, landlords and rental tenants are invited to a meeting that will discuss “Landlords and Tenants: A Balancing Act” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 24, at the Martin Community Center, 2301 Mill St.

Pamela Marshall, Alexandria Area Four Safe Streets coordinator, said the purpose of the meeting is to “further broaden the participant’s understanding of their legal rights as a property owner or tenant.”

Speakers and topics are:

  • Stephan Fontenot of the Alexandria Housing Authority, “Understanding the Section 8 Program”
  • Barbara Dashiell of InnerCity Revitalization Program, “So You Want to Purchase a Home” and “Free Rental Assistance”
  • Ronnie Jones of City of Alexandria Sanitation Department, “Garbage vs. Trash”
  • Walter P. McClatchey of Legal Services of Central Louisiana, “Legal Evictions”
  • Terrance Grimes of the City of Alexandria Marshal’s Office, “Physical Evictions”
