An Alexandria man was stabbed Monday night at King City, a convenience store located at 3009 Lee St., according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Officers responded to the store about 11:40 p.m. and Mastasious White, 31, 3030 Wise St., lying in the middle of the parking lot after being stabbed.

When officers arrived, they requested an ambulance for White, who allegedly identified Michael McClinton, 48, 3109 Pheasant Ridge, as the suspect. A blood trail led officers from the store, down Dallas Avenue towards Harris Street and back to the store.

McClinton returned to the crime scene and allegedly gave officers a false name. However, McClinton had a medical card in his wallet that confirmed his identity.

Officers took McClinton to the police department, where they observed blood spatters on his clothes. When officers tried to handcuff him, he allegedly refused and began resisting officers.

Once at the Rapides Parish Jail, McClinton allegedly spit in a detective’s face. He was booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer.
