An Alexandria father was arrested Wednesday for allegedly putting alcohol in his 5-year-old daughter’s baby bottle causing her to become intoxicated, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

William Moore, 49, 4325 Cornell Dr., was booked into the Rapides Parish Jail on charges of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, a warrant for forgery and a warrant for contempt of court.

On Sunday, May 2, the child’s mother suspected that her daughter was intoxicated when the toddler began “acting kind of funny” by not being able to control her balance, the police report indicates.

Moore brought his daughter back to her mother about 10:17 p.m. That’s when the mother observed her daughter not being able to control her balance.

The daughter allegedly told her mother that she had been at a party with her father. The mother told police her daughter began to cough 911.

The mother said her son found the girl’s plastic bottle that he had seen the toddler drinking out of, and that the bottle smelled of alcohol.

The mother said she repeatedly called Moore on his telephone but couldn’t reach him.

When officers arrived, the girl was on the sofa and she “showed signs of being intoxicated. Her body was limp.”

Acadian Ambulance took the girl to Rapides Regional Medical Center. Police notified the Office of Community Service.
