Running the Roads for Life 5K Run/Walk scheduled

ALEXANDRIA – The 3rd Annual Running the Roads for Life 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, benefiting LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency), will be held Sunday April 25, 2010 at 3pm in downtown Alexandria.

Running the Roads for Life will begin at the corner of 3rd Street and Murray Street. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for male and female overall and 1st place winners for male and female Masters. A pre-race Banquet will be held in honor of LOPA’s heroes on Saturday April 24, 2010 beginning at 6 pm at Country Inn and Suites, 2727 Monroe Highway Pineville. The Banquet will feature keynote speaker, former Dallas Cowboy Everson Walls. Mr. Walls will share his incredible story about the life he now leads educating children and minority communities about the importance of organ and tissue donation, as well as kidney disease and diabetes. Mr. Walls will also be available for a book signing the night of the Banquet.

Every year, Running the Roads for Life honors organ and tissue donors and their families and rejoices with recipients who have received the Gift of Life. With over 1,800 people in Louisiana waiting on a life saving organ transplant, LOPA’s mission is simple – help save lives through organ and tissue donation.

Regardless if you are an avid runner or a lover of the outdoors, gather your family and friends to run or walk while having fun for a worthy cause. Pre-registration entry fee is $25.00. The cost of event day registration is $30.00,and the family limit is $75.00. All pre-registered participants are guaranteed a Running the Roads for Life t-shirt.
