Opelousas man killed in Ville Platte crash

Louisiana State Police Troop I investigated a single vehicle crash on US 167 south of Ville Platte that claimed the life of an Opelousas man on Wednesday, March 24, according to the state police.

According to investigating troopers, shortly after 5:30 p.m., a 2004 Nissan pick up was traveling southbound on US 167 south of Ville Platte. For unknown reasons the driver of the vehicle ran off the right side of the road and entered a ditch. The vehicle overturned and ejected both occupants of the vehicle.  Brandon Richard, 31,  of Opelousas, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish coroner.

The other occupant, Tradey Henry, 25, of Ville Platte was transported by Air Med to a local area hospital with moderate injuries. The crash remains under investigation. Troopers are still working to identify the driver.
