By EverythingCenla staff
The Alexandria Police Department continues to investigate a shooting that occurred in the afternoon of Sunday, March 7, in which two men were shot in the 1300 block of Shirland Avenue located in the Oil Mill Quarters, according to the police report.

The report indicates the following allegedly occurred beginning at 4:30 p.m.:

Officers responded to a call of shots fired and that two victims had been taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center. When officers arrived, they spoke to a witness, who said she was inside of her home when she heard gunshots and went outside to investigate. She reported two men were shooting each other with handguns.

The witness reported a dark gray Suburban had stopped in the middle of the street and a man was standing beside the vehicle shooting a handgun at another man, who was in the front yard of 1312 Shirland Ave., shooting back at the man who was in the street with a handgun. During the crossfire, the man in the front yard was hit in the left leg, and the man in the street was also hit with a bullet.

Meanwhile, two others who were inside of the vehicle got out and picked up the man from the street, placed him in the vehicle and drove away. The man in the yard also got in a vehicle and drove away after the Suburban had driven away from the area.

When detectives arrived on the scene, they discovered one of the two vehicles parked in front of 1312 Shirland Ave., was used to take one of the victims away from the scene. The second vehicle had several bullet holes in it.

Because of the bullet holes found in the front of 1312 Shirland Ave., officers with permission to search the home did so.

No arrests have been made.
