Two Mansura women were arrested mid-day Wednesday, March 4, following an investigation into complaints about a suspected methamphetamine lab operation near Louisiana Highway 1187 near Mansura, according to the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Crystal D. McCann, 32, and April Howerton, 21, both of 1043 Highway 1187.

The arrests came after deputies searched two mobile homes on the property and seized chemicals and materials commonly used to produce methamphetamine. Investigators suspect the mobiles were used exclusively for the production and manufacturing of the drug.

The women were each charged with creation/operation of a clandestine lab, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal carrying of a firearm. McCann was serving five years probation as a result of a July 2009 arrest for operation of a clandestine lab.

Both were booked into the Avoylles Sheriff’s Office DC 1.
