Clyde Reed’s second-degree murder trial expected to start week of March 8

The second-degree murder trial of Clyde Reed accused of shooting and killing a neighbor in September 2008, is scheduled to start the week of March 8, according to the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office felony trial docket.

Ninth Judicial District Judge John C. Davidson is expected to preside over the jury trial.

A grand jury indicted Reed on Feb. 26, 2009. He reportedly shot and killed 28-year-old Jimmy Cordell Leach during an ongoing feud between the two.

Rapides Parish Sheriff’s officials reported Leach had gone to Reed’s home, and the two started arguing in the yard. According to published reports, Reed fired shots at Leach, striking him once in the upper left chest.

Reed was charged with second-degree murder.

  • Ernest A. Scott, possession of CDS II to distribute and possession of CDS III to distribute
  • Allison L. Dubois, create/operating of CLAND lab and possession of CDS II
