Almost 10 years after the death of her children, Amanda Gutweiler Kelly was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to three counts of negligent homicide, a lesser charge than the original charges of three counts of homicide, according to the Rapides Parish Clerk of Court records.

Kelly, 30, appeared in the Ninth Judicial Court today with her attorney, J. Small. She was originally indicted on three counts of first-degree murder in connection with the January 2001 Tioga fire that took the lives of her three children: Sadii Plumm, 10, Luke Hayden, 6, and Jessica Gutweiler, 3. She faced the death penalty until that indictment was thrown out in 2006.

Today, District Court Judge John D. Davison ordered Kelly to serve five years per charge to be served concurrent. Davison gave Kelly credit for time served of four years, one month and 27 days. She was released from custody with the completion of the case.
