A Springfield, Va., man stationed Fort Polk  was arrested Saturday night in connection with the string of armed robberies that occurred in Alexandria over the last week, said Assistant Police Chief Jimmy Hays.

Adam  Charles Reece, 22, Building 1268 Charlie 22, Fort Polk, was booked on five counts of armed robbery, according to the Alexandria Police Department. On Monday, he was charged with two additional counts of armed robbery. These include the first one at Circle K on Masonic Drive and the robbery of the bank deposit at the Capital One branch located near the Alexandria Mall.

Reece was first arrested about 11 p.m. Saturday after allegedly robbing the Subway at 5212 Masonic Drive.

During the arrest, officers allegedly found a plastic toy handgun strapped to Charles’ left side just under his arm. Officers also found several dollar bills.

A second man, Ryan Burnaman, 403 Pine Lake Dr., Pineville, has been charged with five  counts of armed robbery.  Burnaman allegedly was the driver. He is not charged in the Circle K or bank robberies.

Police Commissioner T.W. Thompson said the arrest boiled down to “good detective work.”

Detectives with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
