Alexandria Police investigating an armed robbery

Investigators with the Alexandria Police Department are seeking information about an armed robbery in which a Vitamin World employee claimed he was robbed at gunpoint while trying to make a deposit at the Capital One Bank drive-through, 3499 Masonic Dr., Saturday.

According to the police report, the employee told police he drove to the bank to deposit about $410 in cash and $223 in checks. As he was getting out of his vehicle, a man allegedly approached him from the Memorial Drive side of the bank and showed a black handgun. The gunman demanded the 18-year-old employee to “drop it” and “leave.”  The employee drove away and called the police when he reached Books-A-Million.

The employee described the suspect as a white man, weighing between 170 to 180 pounds and being about 6 feet tall.
