Two men arrested in connection with a home burglary

Two men were arrested Tuesday morning in connection with a burglary at a home located in the 1400 block of Park Avenue, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Marquis Marcell Scott, 32, 1312 Magnolia St., and Albert Green, 51, homeless, were booked into the Rapides Parish Jail. Both men were charged with  burglary of an inhabited dwelling. Green was also booked on a charge of resisting arrest and Scott was also booked on a warrant from the Pineville City Court.

According to the police report,  the following allegedly occurred:

A caller told officers she saw Green allegedly coming out of the back yard of the residence. When officers arrived they spotted Green coming around the right corner toward the officers. When he spotted the officers, he allegedly ran around the back of the home resulting in the officers chasing him. Officers commanded Green to stop but he allegedly did not. Officers tacked him to the ground, handcuffed him and put him in the police car. While walking him to the car, officers observed a white chalky residue, which appeared to be paint.

In the meantime, a second officer stopped Scott, who also had what appeared to be white paint on both his pants knee area and hands.

Officers allegedly found a back window of the home opened. An officer ran his hand along the window seal. His hand also had the white chalky residue.

The complainant, who was watching the home for its owner,  let officers inside of the home to determine if anything had been taken. It appeared nothing was stolen, but a crowbar was found in the back bedroom and the window was opened. In another room, officers allegedly found a flashlight on the floor. The door that connected the two rooms had fresh pry marks on it.
