Arthur F. Smith teacher arrested a third time

The Investigative Division of Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested Sherry Darrnell Gentle, 25, at 1:04 p.m. Wednesday on 20 counts of cyberstalking and one count of contempt of court after she allegedly contacted the student she is accused of have a sexual relationship, said Sheriff Charles F. Wagner Jr.

A warrant was issued for Gentle’s arrest on Tuesday. Bond has not yet been set.

The latest charges stem from Gentle allegedly contacting the victim, after being ordered not to, as a condition of her release on bond, following her Jan. 6arrest when she was charged with three counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

The investigation was initiated after a complaint filed by the 15-year-old boy’s grandmother, who accused Gentle with having a sexual relationship with her grandson.

Gentle was employed by the Rapides Parish School Board as a teacher at Arthur F. Smith Middle Magnet School.  The teenager was in one of Gentle’s classes this school year.

The alleged sex acts occurred at the suspect’s residence located at 5919 Skylark Dr. in Alexandria.

Gentle was also arrested by RPSO and booked into Rapides Parish Detention Center 1, on Dec. 14, 2009, after a warrant was issued against her, with reference to one count of stalking.

The charges stemming from all three of Gentle’s arrests are related to this same case, and victim.  Gentle was released, after both of her previous arrests, after posting bond.
