2 Alexandria officers injured during chase, arrest of 3

Two Alexandria police officers were injured Thursday morning when they responded to a call relating to shots being fired in the 2400 block of Midway, said Sgt. Ronald Besson, the department’s spokesman.

Cpl. Chris Blanchard and Officer Mathew Cross both received lacerations to their hands during the incident, Besson said. Blanchard will be off work due to their injuries for a few days, while Cross will be able to return to duty.

When the department received the call, dispatchers remained on the phone with the caller while officers were on their way and led the officers to three men who were walking through the area.

When officers approached the men, they allegedly ran on foot causing the officers to chase them. Officers eventually caught the men and arrested all three, Besson said.

Those arrested are Donald Ray Parker, Issac King, and Major Tarelton. They were each charged with discharging a firearm, illegal use of a weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon, and flight from an officer. Additionally, Tarelton was charged with two counts of resisting an officer by force and violence. Donald Ray Parker was additionally charged with a warrant for simple arson.
