Alexandria man arrested in connection with December traffic fatality

Thomas Kevin Wallace, 22, 332 Stovall Road, was arrested about 5 p.m. Monday and charged with one count of vehicular homicide, one count of drug paraphernalia and one count of careless operation in connection with a Dec. 3 accident that left a Pineville woman dead, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The fatal accidnent occurred about 6:26 p.m. in the 2300 block of Horsehoe Drive.

According to the police report, police with a search warrant on Dec. 10 searched Wallace’s vehicle and allegedly found nearly empty bottle of Robitussin Nightime Cough Medicine from under the passenger’s seat, a suspected marijuana smoking pipe from on top of the vehicle’s transmission hump, a plastic baggie containing eight white capsules marked with 93 3109 from inside the center console storage area and a blue/clear Butane lighter.

Caitlin Bowden, 1520 Palmer Chapel Road, was killed when the vehicle she was riding in hit a ditch then a pine tree near Horseshoe Drive and Highway 165, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

The police report indicates she was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police responded to the 2300 block of Horseshoe Drive where the accident allegedly occurred. According to the police report, Wallace, was driving a 1997 Dodge Ram, when it left the east edge of the road, traveled through a ditch for about 143 feet then struck a pine tree.

Upon impact, the vehicle turned about 90 degrees before stopping. Police report Wallace “could not remember what happened.” Acadian Ambulance took him to St. Francis Cabrini Hospital where he was treated for “serious injuries.”

Blood samples were taken to undergo toxicology reports. Police report the toxicoloy test revealed Wallace had marijuana, morphine, and alprazolam in his system at the time of the accident.
