Funeral services for Gary Wesley Moore Sr., Alexandria’s former police chief, were held Monday morning at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Alexandria.
Burial was in Forewest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Ball.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Aldret Moore; son, Gary Wesley Moore Jr.; and his fiancee, Michelle Price; daughter, Mary-Ellen Moore Hennon and her husband, Jeffery; and three sisters.
According to The Town Talk, Moore started his law enforcement career in June 1970 at the Alexandria Police Department and worked his way up the ranks to assistant chief in 1997. He was appointed as interim chief for six months before retiring after more than 33 years of service in 2004.
