A 16-year-old Pineville boy was arrested Thursday night on a charge of vehicle burglary in connection with a stolen camera, GPS device and money from a car parked near DeSoto and Fourth streets, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
The police report indicates officers responded to area after receiving a call about two males suspected of trying to get into vehicles. Not finding anyone matching the descriptions of the males in the area, officers left the scene to go assist with a nearby traffic accident.
Shortly afterward, a security officer working at Rapides Regional Medical Center reported he had in his custody a juvenile who may match the description of those officers were searching for. The security officer also reported that several people at the hospital had told him about two suspects trying to get into vehicles parked at the hospital.
Later, the juvenile allegedly told police he helped an adult break into several vehicles in the area. The juvenile allegedly had some of stolen items with him.
Meanwhile, police contacted a Scott street resident, who had complained of a vehicle burglary in the area of Sixth and Scott streets. The woman said the camera and GPS device didn’t belong to her.
The juvenile was released to a guardian.
