Pineville woman killed in accident

ALEXANDRIA — A Pineville woman was killed about 6:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, when the vehicle she was riding in hit a ditch then a pine tree near Horseshoe Drive and Highway 165, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Caitlin Bowden, 1520 Palmer Chapel Road, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police report. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

Police responded to the 2300 block of Horseshoe Drive where the accident allegedly occurred. According to the police report, Thomas E. Wallace, 22, of 332 StovallĀ Road, Alexandria, was driving a 1997 Dodge Ram, when it left the east edge of the road, traveled through a ditch for about 143 feet then struck a pine tree.

Upon impact, the vehicle turned about 90 degrees before stopping. Police report Wallace “could not remember what happened.” Acadian Ambulance took him to St. Francis Cabrini Hospital where he was treated for “serious injuries.”

Blood samples were taken to undergo toxicology reports.
